Rashik Parmar MBE

Rashik Parmar MBE is a distinguished technology leader and Non-Executive Director with more than 42 years’ experience in digital innovation, governance, and strategic transformation across global corporates, public bodies, and non-profit organisations. He has a proven track record of advising boards on responsible technology adoption, digital ethics, ESG, and long-term value creation. His current board and advisory roles include Commissioner at The Electoral Commission; positions with The Open University and the University of Leeds; Founding Director of Rangoli Radio; and Chair of the Industry Advisory Board for Digit Lab. Through these roles, he contributes to national policy, academic strategy, and research-commercialisation partnerships.

As Group CEO of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, he led a major organisational transformation to enhance the institution’s reputation, relevance, and impact. He influenced government policy on AI ethics, online safety, and digital skills; forged high-profile partnerships; and delivered the organisation’s 2030 growth strategy. Previously, as IBM Fellow and Vice President for Technology, Europe, Rashik shaped IBM’s European technical strategy, pioneered the cross-industry Responsible Computing initiative, and advised global clients on large-scale digital transformation programmes. He is widely recognised for building future-ready leadership cultures and scaling innovation initiatives. Rashik also founded CIO Mirror, a non-profit organisation dedicated to accelerating technical leaders from disadvantaged backgrounds into executive positions.

Rashik Parmar was awarded an MBE for services to business and innovation. His governance experience spans education, skills, economic development, and community media. He is particularly passionate about three core priorities: embedding responsible computing principles into boardroom decision-making; advancing social mobility through skills, education, and opportunity; and driving climate-positive technology strategies to address the environmental impact of IT.

Rashik is also a sought-after keynote speaker and published author, with work featured in Harvard Business Review and other leading journals covering innovation, digital responsibility, and platform strategy.
