Getting to the University of Leeds
Air
The City of Leeds is served by two major airports: Leeds Bradford and Manchester. Regular flights are available from a large number of European and International cities. Leeds Bradford airport is approximately 8 miles from the University and taxis cost in the region of £20. Manchester Airport is 59 miles from the University and has excellent train and motorway links to Leeds. Although Leeds and Manchester are the most convenient airports, there are trains from London Kings Cross to Leeds.
Train
Leeds station connects us with all major UK cities and has a fast and efficient London service. The principal station that runs trains to Leeds is London Kings Cross (2.5 hours). For train information and timetables visit National Rail Enquiries. From the station you may wish to either take a taxi to the University or walk.
Taxi
Taxis from Leeds Bradford Airport cost from £20 – £25. Taxis from Leeds Train Station cost £5 – £7. When travelling in Leeds please ensure you take licensed taxis. Uber Taxis are also licensed and operate in the city. Please ask to be dropped off at the Esther Simpson Building by the traffic lights where Clarendon Road meets Woodsley Road.
Walk
The walk from Leeds Train Station to the University takes approximately 20 minutes. Please note, the walking route is uphill and may be difficult if you are travelling with luggage. A map of the route is available here.
The best walking route is to follow the directions below:
- Leave the station through the exit facing the main concourse. Cross the road to enter City Square.
- With the Queens hotel behind you, walk straight up Park Row.
- Continue up Park Row until the first major junction. Turn right on to The Headrow, passing the Light shopping centre on your left.
- Turn left on to Woodhouse Lane and continue uphill.
- Keep going, passing Morrisons supermarket, Leeds Beckett University and the Dry Dock pub.
- You will see Nexus situated ahead. Cross over the bridge and turn left past the blue column statue to reach the entrance.
Car Parking
Parking Car parking is very limited on campus and therefore would recommend guests park in the Woodhouse Lane Car Park. It is a 10 minute walk from the car park to Nexus, a map is available here. If you have accessible requirements and/or have a Blue Badge, please contact confadmin@leeds.ac.uk.
