Dr. Mac-Anthony Cobblah

Dr. Mac-Anthony Cobblah is a distinguished Information Scientist, Academic Librarian, and Consultant with over 27 years of expertise in research and academic environments. He currently serves as the University Librarian for the University of Cape Coast (UCC), where he leads strategic information management initiatives.

Dr. Cobblah’s leadership extends across the continent. He is the Chair of the Governing Council for the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Ghana (CARLIGH) and the Vice President of the African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA). Additionally, he serves as on the Advisory Board of DOAJ and also a Licensing Coordinator for EIFL, championing access to knowledge in developing countries.

His academic background is multidisciplinary, featuring a PhD in Information Science, an MBA in Human Resource Management, and  MA in Library studies. He has  specialised training in Scientific Information Management. An accomplished scholar, Dr. Cobblah has authored over 24 publications and has consulted for high-profile institutions, including the Bank of Ghana and SSNIT. His research and teaching focus on the intersection of Open Science, digital scholarly communication,  knowledge management, open education resources and strategic library management.

A regular speaker at prestigious forums like the UKSG, he champions the philosophy that knowledge is universal and that no region should be excluded from the global value chain of knowledge management.
