John Oluwakorede Akinola is a respected and reputable Program/Project Development Specialist and Portfolio Manager renowned for his passion, dedication, and resourcefulness. With over a decade of experience, he has driven significant impact across the non-profit sector, particularly in social justice, economic empowerment, and health. His expertise encompasses various interventions, from household economic strengthening and microfinancing to health evaluations, youth development programs, and initiatives for orphans and vulnerable children.

Mr. Akinola, a strong advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals, has consistently demonstrated his leadership and management skills by successfully designing and implementing programs that foster lasting positive change. His extensive skill set covers program development, implementation, management, advocacy, system strengthening, monitoring, evaluation, community engagement, and training the trainers. He has led technical teams through all phases of the project life cycle, managing initiatives funded by renowned organizations including USAID, UNODC, the European Union, British Council, and Winrock International.

As the inaugural Senior Programs Manager at the Adewunmi Desalu Parkinson's Foundation, Mr Akinola showcases his innovative thinking by spearheading the creation of comprehensive, evidence-based program structures and unique support group models. His pioneering efforts have led to the establishing of Nigeria's premiere vibrant hybrid support group and the first multi-country virtual Parkinson's disease support group in Africa. He also implemented an impact measurement plan for the foundation's early years, demonstrating his commitment to evidence-based practices.

His commitment to community intervention is profound. Mr Akinola has overseen significant drug abuse intervention programs across various geopolitical zones in Nigeria, developed and managed the Freedom Foundation Low-cost House of Refuge Rehabilitation Center, and spearheaded the UNODC drop-in centre and harm reduction project. His leadership was also pivotal in successfully implementing the European Union's COVID-19 intervention, coordinating a coalition of 12 organisations.

Holding a Master’s Degree in Project Development and Implementation from the University of Ibadan, Mr. Akinola's academic background complements his extensive field experience, underpinning his dedication to continuous learning and professional development.
