It will include keynote speakers, sessions, workshops and roundtable discussions to debate and explore the seminar themes through theoretical encounters or comparative analytical cases within the MENA, Europe and the rest of the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Architecture &amp; Urbanism Research Cluster at the University of Leeds invites you to participate in this seminar to explore the new horizons in global, transnational, and connected histories. In particular, we welcome early career researchers and postgraduate students who are interested in the history of global and political connections, urban planning and housing approaches and practice, movements, spaces, actors, networks, ideas and intersections between the local and the global from antiquity to the present day.\u00a0 We are particularly interested in scholarly and practice contributions that speak to these themes through a range of topics across various spheres and powers relations (global, gender) including (but not limited to):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Practising political power in public spaces<\/li>\n<li>Border settlements\/ regions and the state\u2019s sovereignty<\/li>\n<li>Waves of Migration and forced displacement<\/li>\n<li>The destruction of cities and Post-conflict reconstruction strategies<\/li>\n<li>Memory, memorialization and commemoration<\/li>\n<li>Narratives of migration and displacement<\/li>\n<li>Cultural spaces of conflict (heritage, museum etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Place, conflict resolution and peacebuilding<\/li>\n<li>The role of art, performance, and graffiti in displaying identity in public spaces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dates:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Call Announcement: 24 April 2018<br \/>\nAbstract Deadline: 29 June 2018<br \/>\nNotification of acceptance: 6 July 2018<br \/>\nRegistration Open: 6 July \u2013 3 September 2018<br \/>\nConference Date: 11 -12 September 2018<\/p>\n<p>Please send all abstracts, panel proposals and posters to <a href=\"mailto:cities@leeds.ac.uk\">cityreshaped@gmail.com<\/a> by <strong>Friday 29 June 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Paper Submission Requirements for Publication<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Participants of accepted abstracts are invited to submit full papers for publication in a special issue in 2019 in Archnet-IJAR: International Journal of Architectural Research.<\/p>\n<p>All papers must be written in English. A decision will be made subject to the blind peer-review outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Full-length papers should not exceed 7500 words maximum (22 pages in their format), and reference style (Harvard).
