BACG 2025

Crystallisation: From Molecule to Crystal to Desired Functional Form

The 54th Annual Conference of the British Association for Crystal Growth (BACG 2025) will be held at University of Leeds on Tuesday 1 – Thursday 3 July 2025.

Since its establishment in 1969 the BACG has fostered scientific and technological exchanges on both national and international levels; covering theory, practice, and evaluation of crystal growth and crystallisation.

The BACG annual conference provides a platform for scientists and engineers from academia/industry working in the field of crystallisation to explore their latest advancements, innovations and exchange ideas.

Core themes of the 2025 conference include:

  • Crystallisation fundamentals: nucleation, growth and crystal propertiesThe logo for the British Association of Crystal Growth
  • Digital design and control of industrial crystallisation processes
  • Biological, macromolecular and bio-mimetic crystallisation
  • Co-crystallisation and multicomponent crystallisation
  • Crystal informatics for the design of formulated products
  • Crystallisation in energy and environment

Travel bursaries are available for members, more information can be found on the BACG website.

BACG Young Scientists Award

The BACG has established this annual award to recognise achievement by young scientists publishing work in the field of crystal growth. The winner will receive a cheque for £300 and an engraved medal. They will present the work as an invited talk in BACG 2025, after which the formal presentation of the award will be made by the President of the BACG during the conference.

The award is made annually to the candidate achieving the most significant advance in the understanding of the theory, practice or characterisation of crystal growth processes published in the scientific literature in the previous three calendar years.

Nomination deadline: 30 April 2025
